Research Interests
Research interests include the molecular design and synthesis of photosensitive azo compounds and azomethines, as well as the investigation of their spectroscopic, photochemical, nonlinear optical, and information-storage properties in solutions and polymeric materials. Particular attention is devoted to quantum-chemical modelling of molecular electronic structures, optical transitions, electron-density distribution, and nonlinear optical responses in order to establish relationships between molecular structure and the functional characteristics of the resulting materials.

Yehor Okunievskyi

2nd year Master's student

Research Interests
The research focuses on azo compounds containing two photoactive groups of the same or different types, with the aim of elucidating how their mutual interactions affect the spectroscopic, photochemical, and nonlinear optical properties of the molecules and polymeric materials. Particular attention is given to comparing systems with two identical photoactive fragments and combined molecular systems incorporating different photosensitive groups, as well as evaluating their overall photochemical response.

Anna Oliinyk

1st year Master's student

Research Interests
The research interests include the synthesis and comprehensive investigation of azo compounds capable of azo–hydrazone tautomerism. Particular attention is devoted to the effects of molecular structure, substituent nature, and medium on the relative populations of the tautomeric forms and the optical properties of the compounds. Their spectroscopic characteristics, solvatochromic behavior, protolytic equilibria, and changes in absorption spectra under acidic and basic conditions are investigated. A separate research direction focuses on the development of functional monomers based on these azo compounds, evaluation of their polymerization ability, optimization of homo- and copolymerization conditions, and determination of the kinetic parameters of the polymerization process.
